Community Services

Adopt a Highway (Service)

Peace Lutheran sponsors ditch clean-up as part of the local Adopt a Highway program. Our designated highway runs along County Road 158 in Cold Spring—where an Adopt a Highway sign proudly bears our name. We annually hold a springtime clean-up day, followed by a cookout at the church afterwards. Our Confirmation students are engaged in this activity as a service project for their Confirmation study program. For more details about how to get involved in this program, call the church office at 320-685-7656. We will be able to direct you to the current year’s coordinator.

Assumption Home Worship (Service)

Peace Lutheran sponsors worship services on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 1:00 p.m. at Assumption Home in Cold Spring. Peace’s pastor is available to lead services on the second Sunday, and Holy Communion is served. Lay leaders of Peace volunteer to lead the services on the fourth Sunday of every month, including singing and a lesson from Scripture. Summer months may vary.

For more details about Assumption Home Worship Services, please call the church office at 320-685-7656.

Community Parades (Service)

Parades are a popular summer activity in Cold Spring and the surrounding areas. Peace Lutheran has played an active role in the parade festivities by sponsoring a ministry float that welcomes and encourages visitors to worship with us. A variety of groups at Peace have been involved in this outreach activity. If you have an interest in leading or participating in a summer parade project, please call the church at 320-685-7656.

Pioneer Days Food Sales (Fundraising & Fellowship)

Peace Lutheran sponsors an annual food stand at Stearns County Pioneer Days in Albany. This ministry is a fundraising activity, coordinated and served by the youth and youth leadership teams. Funds raised at Pioneer Days support many youth activities and events throughout the year, such as sound equipment recently installed in the youth commons.

The Pioneer Days event is held annually in September. For more details about Pioneer Days activities at Peace, you may call Karla Smetana at 320-685-8907 or the church office at 320-685-7656. We will be able to direct you to the current year’s coordinator.

Swedish Meatball Dinner (Fundraising & Fellowship)

Peace Lutheran sponsors an annual dinner event for the community called Peace Lutheran’s Swedish Meatball Dinner. The traditional meal features giant meatballs, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, and coleslaw—plus an infamous selection of homemade pies for dessert. This event enlists the largest number of member volunteers who come out to help a good cause. Monies raised at each annual event are typically designated for a single project—most commonly allocated to a local family in unique need of assistance. For more details about this annual event, please call the church office at 320-685-7656. We will direct you to the current year’s coordinator.
