Excerpted from the April 2012 Annual Report:
Elementary Education had 84 students enrolled in classes this past year. The overall theme of the year was “Give Love” and our goal with programming was to build positive relationships. Sunday mornings had a lot of energy! We added an Opening Fellowship time together for music, celebrations and a theme lesson for the day. We also added “Pastries with Parents”, an opportunity for moms and dads to participate in Opening Fellowship with their child(ren). One of the most popular new ministries this year is a monthly service projects. Students voted on various community needs to be the recipient of children’s offering funds. This year we gifted our monthly offerings to: Place of Hope in St. Cloud, Assumption Nursing Home in Cold Spring, our local food shelf and local families in need at Christmas, plus ELCA World Hunger and Global Health missionaries in Tanzania.
Confirmation/Junior High Youth attend fellowship events with their small groups and also work on service projects together throughout the school year. Twelve youth attended the Junior High Synod Gathering last November. The 7th grade students are working hard to fund their Confirmation Camp to Luthercrest this summer, and 8th grade students will begin final preparations for Confirmation in October. Learn more about Confirmation/Junior High Youth.
Senior High Youth started the school year off with a youth-led worship service in August, and then they packaged food for Kids Against Hunger in September. They continue to have enriched conversations and devotions in the Peace Youth room, whether enjoying games or watching movies. Eight youth traveled to Mankato for the Senior High Youth Gathering in March, and we have several youth interested in running for the Lutheran Youth Organization board next year.
